This is a first year project. We had the chance to participate during the second semester at school in an architecture contest. The subject was Micro-architecture.

Short workshop project for the Jacques VIEILLE workshop et the ESA October 2007. The subject of the workshop was: Nature et Artifice (Natural and Artificial).

Some aspects of nature are defined by mathematical formulas, corresponding to certain functions of plants. I took the sunflower and the hemlock flowers as reference. The sunflower looking towards the sun, by following its path in the sky, the hemlock as a Lindenmayer, path fractal system.

This project is the result of a very short Workshop with Peter Macapia in 2007 at the ESA. The subject was the transformation of a simple geometric object by the context.

We decided to work on the entrance to Paris by train, so the project is situated near to the "Gare de l'Est", where a few months after the workshop the TGV est would arrive. So creating a moving entrance into Paris seemed an interesting interpretation of the subject.

The essence of a new Parisian restaurant and its style is closely linked to the general motivation of visiting and enjoying the Ile de France and Paris in particular. As most visitors are especially drawn by the historical monuments, the food and the dream of the paradigmatic french luxury this restaurant is in a way a hedonistic aproach to the “visit france” style.

The process of preparation, presentation and consumption of food are not so far away from the principles of the physical attraction, pleasure or even act of love.

GPS and Google Earth have immersed everywhere in our lives.

Those technologies have us made forget about the feeling of geographic position. We have learned to get around in every place on earth, drawn lines we ought to follow. Do we need a gadget to find our way around a city? Do we have to know where the north is, do we have to follow a traced path to get from one place to another?

Imagine being free of this technology and having another way of orienting ourselves.

Located in the suburbs of Paris, this building is a public school for 10 to 15 years old children. We wanted to answer two problematics of the site. Turned outward, the school integrates in the existing urban tissue, making the outside facade a filter for urban annoyances and security. On the inside, the court reserved for the children is more friendly and quiet.

This project is about upgrading a normal waste deposit center to a place where social interactions are possible. It all came from an experience where I was throwing away my old bicycle, and suddenly a guy asked me if he could get it, fix it and give it to his children. Well why not? In the contemporary society, we throw away what is no longer of use to us. There is another option than immediately considering those things as waste. African and South-American countries teach us, that with a bit of imagination and work, these objects can be fixed or used for another application.
